England
vs
Wales
- England come into this final Group B fixture knowing a positive result should be enough to secure progression, but Gareth Southgate’s side will also want to make a statement after a frustrating draw with the USA last time out. The Three Lions showed their attacking ceiling in the opening 6-2 win over Iran with goals coming from multiple areas of the pitch and they have enough quality through Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka, Phil Foden, Marcus Rashford and Jude Bellingham to cause the Wales back line real problems in Al Rayyan.
- Wales are in a position where they cannot afford to simply sit back and hope for the best - they need a big performance to keep their tournament hopes alive which should force them to take more risks as the game develops, leaving them vulnerable to a potent England attack in good form.
- With England’s strength in depth across their front line, Wales needing to chase the game at some point and the added edge of a British derby on the World Cup stage, this clash has all the ingredients to become more open than a typical final group match. Over 2.5 goals looks a strong angle here.
